The National Archives is home to the most iconic records dating back over a thousand years and they are the official publisher for the UK government. It’s a national institute with significant historical records.

We have worked with The National Archives for the last 10 years delivering a varied number of projects from refurbishing the restaurant and seating area, toilets, multiple lighting schemes, working in the repositories building offices and meeting rooms etc. all totalling a significant multi-million pound value. Due to the nature of the business, all our staff adhere to the strictest security protocols when carrying out any works.

The partnership with The National Archive has been immensely rewarding and we continue to deliver to a high standard.

Project

Repository '0' and Third-Party Digitisation Area Refurbishment

This entailed the complete strip out of the existing space including the removal of all M & E services. Upgraded services were then installed including a new distribution board, isolator and fire alarm system.

We then reconfigured the space to suit the new layout including the formation of a larger entrance lobby and redecoration throughout.

Works included, demolition, decorations, joinery, mechanical and electrical including undertaking validations.

This also entailed the complete strip out of the existing space including the removal of all M & E services and clockwork. Reconfiguration of the space to suit the revised layout and adaption of the existing BMS system to suit the new M & E services.

We installed a new raised floor, skirtings and redecorations throughout including a blackout film to all windows in the third-party digitisation suite.

Liason with TNA and their incumbent contractors was key to delivery. All demolition works, services isolations and reconnections were undertaken out of hours to minimise any impact on the daily operations of the archives and the public reading rooms.
